Les and I drove up to Greeley this morning (EARLY this morning) so we could visit two 7th grade classes who are participating in National Novel Writing Month.
I was the “guest author” and talked a bit about writing my own books.
We had a really great time together. I was amazed at the attentiveness, graciousness, and imagination of all of the students–and their teacher, Amber Darnell.
The students told me about their novels (no less than 1000 words–the novels, that is, not their telling!) and then I asked them to write haiku describing their work. I was delighted with how quickly they wrote and how illuminating the haiku were.
What a fun morning!
